Hello,
I am an architectural modelmaker and building a model of the golden
gate bridge. Years ago I picked up this book in the Golden Gate gift
shop, it was a hard bound book called the Golden Gate Bridge, 50th
Anniversity edition, 1987 it was a technical manuel on how they
designed the bridge along with some of the original drawings scaled
down. These drawings that were included in the back of the book, were
general type of information, i.e. overall dimensions, lenght..that
sort of thing. I've
used these drawings to the extend I can and need more detailed
information. For example, the vertical flutes that appear on the horizontal
members between the columns are spaced differently from each other. I
would like to find exactly the location of these for every horizontal
memeber.
Would you know where I might be able to get more detailed drawings or
whom I can contact? Would they allow me to get these drawings or are they
classified ? and who can I contact?
Thanks
Panos

Contact the California DOT (Caltrans) and ask them to send you the
blueprints of the bridge

Not really , they may charge you a copy and administrative fee for the
work involved , but the drawings and blueprints of the bridge (and
pretty much any structure with the exception of defense related ones)
are public record

I wonder who the movie studio's contact when they need drawings. That
movie, ten five, had a model of the bridge that they wrecked. Someone
was telling me it was twenty feet tall.
