I would like to know what the amount of the low, average, and high
compensation plans (salary, commission, bonus, 401K, etc.) are for
Managing Consultants who work for a firm in St. Louis and/or the
Midwest. I have 7 years of experience in the IT industry and 3 years
of experience as a Managing Consultant for an IT firm. Please use
that as a basis for the search.

To clarify futher, the exact classification for the named title is not
in the job bank data I've been looking through. I'm trying to classify
the job by duties, and thereby provide salary comparison data.

Managing Consultant is kind of an open-ended job title. Some of the
skills you mentioned are part of the things I do and some are not. I
don't have a technical background. My background in the IT industry
is more in management and sales. fter posting this request yesterday
I did some more searching on the web and found a better description of
a job that fits my experience.

I think this better describes what I'm looking for:

Business Development Manager (Consulting Services)
Identifies, negotiates and manages strategic relationships with
content and technological partners. Manages the marketing, sales and
product development teams to implement business development
initiatives. Requires a bachelor's degree in business, finance or
marketing with 4 years of experience in the field or a related area.
Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and
procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish
goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct
the work of others. May report to an executive or a manager. A wide
degree of creativity and latitude is expected. All of these things
are part of the job I currently have--with a specific focus on
Information Technology.

Does this clarify what I'm looking for?

Thanks, yes, that's helpful.

In this case, U.S. Department of Labor public statistics are too
general to be of use to you..

I'm going to point you to a SalaryExpert.com calculator available
throught the Wall Street Journal's Career Journal. This particular
portal to the SalaryExpert.com data deals exclusively with executive
and professional positions. I don't have enough confidence in the
rather vague position descriptions for Business Development Manager or
Chief Business Development Executive to make a determination for you.
You can quite easily select the job titles and city to view the
reports.

I'm sorry I haven't been able to come up with more specific salary
information for you. Most salary data is purchasable, however, from a
number of Salary Comparison surveys or brokers.
Salary-comparison-and-calculator.com links to the $49.95 salary report
mentioned in the comment below.

You'll also find a listing of additional computer and IT salary
comparison resources, including an IT specific salary calculator from
Information Week, at Job Star Central:

Ran out of time...here are a few of sites that may be of interest:

http://itsearchprofessionals.com/text/2001salarysurveymw.htm

www.salaryexpert.com ...skip the $18 slary and wage reports, pretty
skimpy

www.salary.com ...claims to be able to produce and indepth report for
$49

If you haven't already thought of it I would suggest contacting the
employment department and area headhunters/executive search firms
(they get paid more when you do and they can help with the packaging)

Happy Trails!
