In The Lord of the Rings, there is a line where the dead kind says "No man can kill me" and then the woman says "I am no man" and procedes to kill him. I could SWEAR that nearly those exact same lines were in another movie. (or maybe book or TV show or something...) Nobody I can find knows what I'm talking about. If anybody could find a very similar line in another movie, where something can't be killed by a man, but a woman does, please let me know. |

This has always reminded me of Shakespeare's Macbeth, who receives a prophecy which gives him false confidence. Macbeth is told "none of woman born shall harm Macbeth." At the end of the play, Macbeth is killed by Macduff, who was not technically "of woman born," since MacDuff had come into the world by Caesarean section ("from his mother?s womb untimely ripp?d".) |
