Dear Confussed,
For several years now, there is an attempt to form a national register
of convicted child sex offenders, but there is no comprehensive list
as such.
(Joint Committee on the Australian Crime Commission Cybercrime, 24
March 2004, <http://www.aph.gov.au/Senate/committee/acc_ctte/cybercrime/report/>,
Ch. 3 p. 35 ff <http://www.aph.gov.au/Senate/committee/acc_ctte/cybercrime/report/ch3.doc>).
New South Wales has a list of all offenders living in there, but it is
only open to the law enforcement community and not to the general
public.
Southern Australia is planning to put on a register of all convicted
paedophiles living there.
The most comprehensive list currently available to the general public
is provided by MAKO (Movement Against Kindred Offenders):
MAKO/FILES
-PUBLIC List Of Australian Convicted Child Sex/Sex Offenders-

I hope this answered your question. Please contact me if you need any
clarifications on this answer before you rate it.
Search strategy:
"national register" "sex offenders" site:au (Site:au screens only
sites from Asutralia, that is sites whose suffix is ".au")
"convicted paedophiles" site:au |
