Hello wallace-ga
Although English law does not extend to the Isle of Man, the Manx
legal system is based on the principles of English law, like the legal
systems of many Commonwealth countries.
As in the UK, the first step towards getting divorced is to draft a
divorce petition with the local court stating, among other things, the
fact that the marriage has broken down irretrievably and the basis for
the breakdown. You would normally need a solicitor to do this.
Lawyers on the Isle of Man are known as advocates and they cover the
roles of solicitors and barristers in England.
Divorce Online has a clear explanation of the steps involved in
getting divorced. Follow the Contemplating Divorce link at the left
hand side.
