Around 1981-1984 the USA network was running Night Tracks. Usually
this consisted of early 80's alternative music. However, occasionally
they would put in a 4-8 minute short film. Here is the description:
Starts out with a little girl looking at a picture. It then "pulls
away" from the picture and you realize it is a picture of a little
girl sitting on a chair...looking at a picture. Then, it pulls away
again....ad infinitum. Basically, think of the U2 video earlier this
past year and then and you get the idea. Each time it pulls away you see it was
"inside" the frame before. Make any sense? OK, see if this helps. You
take a polaroid of me standing next to a fountain. While at the
fountain I am looking at a picture of the mona lisa. Now, go
backwards. You start with the Mona Lisa. As you pan out of the Mona
Lisa you realize I am looking at it. Then, you pan more and realize
that I am actually in a polaroid looking at the Mona Lisa. Then, you
keep panning to realize that you are taking a picture of me....etc.
The really weird thing about this short film is it ends where it
began...the little girl is there again and it is a real mind #$#^!
Sorry. Cannot help any more than this. Worth $10 if someone knows the
artist or any info on this.

Ya, NightFlight was great! I remember IBM put out a film like this,
may be the same one, pulled way out...then some more...more...outer
space...then zoomed into a the original subject and on into a single
cell...think it started with a backyard bbq, though.

Here is a source you might check, though. Claims his dad "ran Night
Flight" and talks about the possibility of DVDs. If he is for real, he
might have some play lists handy...
