Howdy celtman-ga,
You might hold off on enrolling there.
Here is part of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Mainland British Columbia
report on the Canadian Alternative Medicines Research Institute.
http://www.spock.usshurdman.com/~van/report.html?compid=220829
"The Private Post-Secondary Commission has advised the Bureau that this
institution is NOT allowed to offer degree programs in British Columbia.
...
According to BBB experience, this company has an UNSATISFACTORY rating."
I could not find out what has to be accomplished to obtain CAMRI's version
of a "Graduate Diploma in Naturopathy," but here is what one would need to
do at the University of Western Sydney to get a "Bachelor of Applied Science
- Naturopathic Studies."
http://handbook.uws.edu.au/hbook/course.asp?course=4597
"Three-years full-time followed by a one year full-time graduate diploma in
order to practice Naturopathy."
Information on regulations of the naturopathic industry can be found on the
web site of the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM.)
http://www.ccnm.edu/about.html
"The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, established in 1978, offers
Canada's only accredited four-year, full-time professional program in
naturopathic medicine. Graduates receive a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine
(ND)diploma."
Regulation depends on which province you are located. More from CCNM.
http://www.ccnm.edu/program.html#canadapractice
"Naturopathic practice is regulated under provincial law in four provinces:
British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan, with licensure pending in
Alberta. Regulated naturopathic doctors are required to complete three years
of pre-medical training at a recognized university, four years of full-time
naturopathic education at an approved college and pass rigorous regulatory
board examinations that are standardized across North America."
If you need any clarification, feel free to ask.

Howdy celtman-ga,
The Private Post Secondary Education Commission of British Columbia (PPSEC)
is a legitimate organization, and is empowered by the Canadian government
under the Private Post-Secondary Education Act.
http://www.qp.gov.bc.ca/statreg/stat/P/96375_01.htm
"PRIVATE POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION ACT - [RSBC 1996] CHAPTER 375"
The Private Post Secondary Education Commission of British Columbia has
their web site here.
http://www.ppsec.bc.ca/
"This is the website of the Private Post Secondary Education Commission
of British Columbia. Here you will find information about our services
and institutions offering private training and instruction in the Province
of British Columbia."
PPSEC's "What Does Registration Mean for the Prospective Student?"
http://www.ppsec.bc.ca/student.htm
"The Private Post-Secondary Education Commission was established under
the Private Post-Secondary Act to provide consumer protection in respect
of registered institutions. Registration with the Commission is mandatory
for most private training providers offering training or instruction to
persons aged 17 or older."
The PPSEC "Be an Informed Consumer" web page.
http://www.ppsec.bc.ca/consumer.htm
"Check for a valid PPSEC Registration Certificate and set of General
Directives. Do not enroll at any private post-secondary institution
not registered with PPSEC."
As stated on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Mainland British Columbia
report, and supported by the PPSEC, the Canadian Alternative Medicines
Research Institute (CAMRI) does not appear on either the PPSEC list of
registered or accredited institutions. I would imagine that the lack of
registration and accreditation could lead to an unsatisfactory rating.
PPSEC List of Registered Institutions - As of Apr 29, 2004
http://ppsec.salussystems.bc.ca./search/registeredInstitutions.htm
" ...
- CANADIAN ACUPRESSURE COLLEGE ...
- CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF FLEET SUPERVISORS ...
- CANADIAN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SCHOOL ...
..."
PPSEC List of Accredited Institutions - As of Apr 29, 2004
http://ppsec.salussystems.bc.ca/search/AccreditedInstitutions.htm
" ...
- CANADIAN ACUPRESSURE COLLEGE ...
- CANADIAN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SCHOOL ...
..."
A diploma from a nonaccredited "school" is just a piece of paper as the
accreditation process is what it takes to make that diploma have value.
That is what accreditation means; from Merriam-Webster Online:
http://www.merriam-webster.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?va=accreditation
"... to recognize (an educational institution) as maintaining standards
that qualify the graduates for admission to higher or more specialized
institutions or for professional practice ..."
It is interesting that "Western Reserve University" shares a phone number
and an address with CAMRI. I find it eqally interesting that they don't
appear to have a campus, I couldn't find a course list and the "credits"
required to get a "degree" is listed right next to the tuition costs. It
also doesn't assure me much when the faculty has Hotmail accounts.
