After years of playing bridge at the MSN ZONE site I suddently, after
signing on with my password and clicking my way to the site, find a
notice: "You have reached this page due to errors in your
authentication. You may choose among the following Zone sites to
continue:" Then it lists 4 sites - such as "I was trying to play a
game on Zone.com" when I click on any of the choices I find myself
back at the game sign in and click myself forward to this same
Authentication problem page again. What do I do? Windows XP -
Internet Explorer.

Check and see if cookies are enabled on your browser. To do so go to
the "Tools" menu, pull it down and select "Internet Options". Within
there clikc on the tab "Privacy" and set it to "Accept all Cookies."
Press okay and try again.

Or did you recently install a router or firewall? If thats the case
it could cause the problem as well.

If either of these solutions work, please let me know, I am curious if
they will solve the problem.

Hope that helps!

After looking at the page, you might have SSL disabled for some
reason. Check back in the internet options page you were in before
and go to "Advanced." Scroll to the bottem where is says "Security."
Under security the following should be enabled (checked):
*Use SSL 2.0
*Use SSL 3.0

To be sure you've gotten everything, hit the "Restore Defaults" button.

I am fairly convinced it is either the cookies or the SSL that is
tripping you up. I have recreated the problem your having by playing
with my setting for a little bit and then solved it by setting them
back.

Be sure to close all open windows after you've changed the settings.

Hope this is a help!

Markahern-Ga,
I want to greatly apologize for submitting the above response as an
answer. In my haste I clicked the answer button rather then the
clarification button. While I still believe one fo the three
solutions I gave you will solve your problem, I did not intend to
submit it as an answer till you had said it solved your problem.

That leaves you with a few options. If this solved your problem then
wonderful, no harm done. If not you can either submit to have your
question relisted or we can work together until we come up with a
solution till your problem.

On another note, have you tried restarting your computer? That
sometimes clears out weird problems.

Anyway, I am very sorry once again. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions.

Have a wonderful evening!

The solution(s)did not correct problem. I have not installed any new
firewalls, however coincident with bridge problem a new 'Security
Alert'page came up where you click to continue anyway - replacing the
old one.

The new security page that pops up, when does it pop up and what
exactly does it say?

Few more possible solutions for you. First, you should try running
Windows Update to make sure you have the up to date software and
security patches. Hopefully Windows Update will reset a setting or
component that is acting funny.

To run windows update go to www.windowsupdate.com. Click on "Scan for
Updates". The system will then scan for any recent updates to your
system. It will bring up a screen which will allow you to select
"Review and Install updates", click that. Click the button that says
"Install Now".

After everything has installed and updated, restart your computer and try again.

If this has not resolved your problem your going to want to try
another browser. The two best browsers available right now are Opera
and Mozilla.

Opera is available for download free at:
http://www.simtel.net/product.download.mirrors.php?id=57050

You can also check out www.opera.com for information about the browser.

Mozilla can be found here;
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.6/mozilla-win32-1.6-installer.exe

For information about the Mozilla browser check out their website:
http://www.mozilla.org/

Hope this helps, if it doesn't let me know and we'll try something else.

Cheers,
djbaker-ga

I had the same problem when trying to connect to a game through msn
messenger. I tryed everything listed above and could not correct the
problem. i finally found some information on the zone website:
http://zone.msn.com/en/support/article/support1002
This basically told me to double click the time in my system tray and
check that the time & date, time zone and internet time are correct. I
noticed that my date was a day out and after correcting this i had no
problem connecting to a game through msn messenger.
hope this sorts out the problem for you.
