My wife is a hairstylist operating as an independent contractor at a
local hair salon. (In the parlance of the profession, she is a "booth
renter".) We have some fairly substantial personal assets, and live in
a particularly litigious state. I'm looking for a reasonable and
reputable source for liability insurance coverage on her behalf. Any
recommendations? Thank you.

Under those circumstances, liability insurance sounds like a good
idea. Which state do you live in?

We live in California.

Greetings! I cannot guarantee the reputability nor reasonable rates
of the following companies I located, so I make no personal
recommendations. You will have to contact the companies for rates,
and perhaps call a state agency (or the California Better Business
Bureau) for reputability.

By searching the term "california liability insurance hair salons" I
found the site http://www.rebates4you.com/insurance/Salons.html which
included the following information:

"For more information on Salons Liability Insurance in California,
please call Herb. Cohen - Agent - California Insurance License Number
OA80572 at 858-793-7370/858-793-0278(Message Center) or E-Mail your
name and phone number to: Rebates4u@earthlink.net. Please mention
Salons Liability Insurance."

I then searched the term "california liability insurance beauty
salons" and discovered http://www.aegisins.com/ At the bottom of that
page was this site under "Contractors Liability"
http://www.aegisins.com/new_page_1.htm That page had a link to email
for a free quote, as well as a toll-free telephone number.

If this information proves to be that for which you are looking,
please request a clarification and I will repost this as an answer and
claim the fee.
