4 - 5 years ago I had 7 years protected NCB - then I had a car accident, ahvenot had my own insurance since. Now I want my car insurance, but I don;t recall who I was last insured with, so I cannot verify my 7 years protected NCB when asking for quotes. The credit card company cannot help, is there another way I cna look into this - perhaps using the vehicle's history, or some RAC car history search or something for the vehicle I had the accident in? I am running out of ideas - I actually keep all my credit card statements, but thety are so ld the type is stuck to the plastic protective folders, and now its completely illegible! |

I wonder if your NCB would still be available after your not having had any insurance for such a long time? I don't know. And I don't know of any way to track car insurance records for your English car insurance either. Sorry! |

The only way to confirm your NCB status is with your last insurance company. The history of car is not relevant. I'm afraid it is a matter of remembering the name of the insurance company. If you do confirm your NCB, whether the new insurance company would accept it after all this time, is debatable. I wonder if it's likely the insurance company would have done a credit check on a new policy holder? If so, that might still be recorded on the registers held by the consumer credit reference agencies, which might enable you to identify the insurance company. Info on how to obtain a copy of your file is given at: http://www.oft.gov.uk/News/Press+releases/Consumer+alerts/04+00.htm Owain |
