I am looking for the CBS NFL broadcast theme song which was used prior
to the 2003 season. Where can I obtain this track on CD or by
download?

It's not the Copland song. It must be a CBS-created track. Might it be
a good idea to call CBS Broadcasting if no one comes up with the name?

i'm not a big football fan, but i'm pretty sure you're thinking about:

"Fanfare for the Common Man" by the composer Aaron Copland. 

this used to be the theme for the longest....

you can get the track off iTunes Music Store or the whole CD from amazon.com, etc:
