Question ID: 339486
I have a question about digital video editing. I am a complete beginner.

I have some small video clips, taken with a digital camera, during a
recent family vacation. I am trying to make a DVD of this vaction
using Pinnacle Studio 9 and Adobe Premiere 6.5. I'm using Windows XP,
not a Mac.

I'm almost done, but to finish my DVD, I am trying to do the following:

* Render each small (320x240) video clip inside a decorative graphical
still border looking like a Polaroid picture frame (or perhaps some
other decorative artwork).

* That should give me a set of new video clips that contain the
decorative border with motion video inside.

* Then I want to composite these video clips to slowly move across a
still image background (so several of the small video clips will be on
screen at the same time). I *think* I can do this compositing and
motion using Adobe Premiere, but I have not tried yet.

QUESTION: I can't seem to figure out how to take my raw (quicktime)
video clips, and place them inside a decorative image border. Does
anyone know if this can be done with Adobe Premiere or Pinnacle Studio
9? Do I need another tool? Is there any freeware available to
composite a video inside a still image border, and generate a new clip
with a decorative background? Commercial software?

I'm really just fumbling my way through these programs, and I've spent
a total of 10 hours doing video editing in my life, so I'm a complete
beginner! Advice?

It should be possible with the programs you list. I know it's possible
with Final Cut Express and Final Cut Pro. I don't have Pinnacle or
Premiere handy, though, so I can't tell you how to do it...

Thanks damiam. I doubt Pinnacle Studio 9 does this (it seems to be
single video track without compositing), but I suspect it might be
possible with Adobe Premiere... though it's possible I might need
Adobe's "After Effects" product possibly...

I'm sure this is a completely obvious question for an moderately
advanced Premiere user, if I can just find them! :-)
