Is it true that Guinness, the famous Irish stout brewers, build custom
Irish pubs? I understand that the client supplies the dimensions of
the space for the intended custom & genuine "Irish" pub, and then Guinness
builds a prefabricated unit in Ireland which is later broken down and
shipped in a container to wherever in the world that the client wants
it.

If true, how do I go about ordering a Guinness Irish pub?

Thank you!

It is true that Guinness is involved in a prefabricated-pub endeavor.
Here are a few online mentions:

"Eight years ago, Guinness cashed on in the interest in all things
Irish, that was sparked by the hit musical Riverdance, by offering
start-up help for anyone wanting to open an Irish pub. It will build a
whole pub, package it up, and ship it to be reassembled in cities such
as Tokyo or Kuala Lumpur. It also offers staff training and keeps a
listing of qualified Irish bar managers who might want to work
overseas."

"The bar owners are upset with Guinness' commercial development
division, and its relationship to the Irish Pub Co., which has built
hundreds of Irish theme pubs around the world since 1991. The company
put together its first pub in the United States in 1996 in Atlanta,
Ga., and scores have followed.

Most import the physical components of the pub -- sometimes even the
bar itself -- from Ireland, and cost up to $2 million to open. Some,
such as the popular Fado pubs, are part of chains, while others
operate independently. Their success has led other entrepreneurs to
use firms other than the Irish Pub Co. to import Irish pub parts to
the U.S. and open large pubs."

"More novel, certainly, is the rise of the constructed 'Irish pub' as
a global commodity... you can now order a traditional Irish pub from
firms such as the Guinness-owned Irish Pub Company and the Irish Pub
Design and Development Company, who will assemble your pub for you
wherever you require."

"Irish pubs have spread all over the world, and the big barking dog of
worldwide Irish pub design is, appropriately named, the Irish Pub
Company. Headquartered in Dublin with a U.S. office in Atlanta, the
company has built more than 300 pubs since 1991 in thirty-eight
countries throughout Europe, from Spain to Russia, as well as cities
like Hong Kong, Tokyo, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Dubai.
Affiliated with Guinness Brewing Worldwide, the Irish Pub Company will
not only design and build a pub with materials imported completely
from the Emerald Isle, but will also recruit real Irish staff; set up
the kitchen and train staff to prepare some 100 Irish recipes;
identify quality suppliers for ingredients needed to make those
dishes; help choose playlists of Irish music, or even steer you to a
Dublin-based booking service for live music; supply you with
'bric-a-brac and tailored merchandise'; and, last but not least, stock
the bar with a complete Irish-drinks portfolio. Truly, a bar-in-a-box
-- for only an estimated $140-$180 per square foot of public space."

"The Irish Pub Company was originally commissioned by brewing giant
Guinness to create Irish Pubs throughout the world; it designs around
one pub every three weeks. Traditional Irish Pubs can already be found
in the USA, Australia, Russia and across Europe."

As noted in several of the articles excerpted above, Guinness's
affiliate in the pub-creating-and-exporting business is the Irish Pub
Company. If you're interested in learning how to import your own Irish
pub, you'll find a contact form here:

It appears that the main competition in this field is provided by the
Irish Pub Design & Development Company. This firm is not associated
with Guinness, but you might be interested in looking at their
