I am looking for a particular version of the song "In the Mood For
Love" which many artists have recorded. This version appears in the
trailer of the movie "In the Mood for Love" by Wong Kar-Wai (type in
"Apple trailer in the mood for love" to view the particular trailer in
Quicktime). I need the name of the artist, or better yet, a way that I
can get this song (CD, download, etc).

Hello.

The artist is Bryan Ferry.

See Wongkarwai.net:
'The song is by Bryan Ferry, I think, called "I'm in the Mood for Love"'
http://www.wongkarwai.net/pages.php?page=Soundtrack+FAQ

The song is track #4 on Ferry's CD "As Time Goes By," available (with
sound clips) from Tower Records:

search strategy:
google groups:
trailer "the mood for love"

I hope this helps.

Those are indeed the lit+languid stylings of Bryan Ferry. His
rendition isn't your mama's version of the Jimmy McHugh/Dorothy Fields
standard though. Ferry's flavored it with a samba beat, added in some
curious instruments (bandoneon and ondes martenot), and spiced it up
with Alice Retif reading a snippet of Baudelaire's "Ophelia" in
French. http://www.eye.net/eye/issue/issue_11.04.99/music/ferry.html

Rumor has it that "As Times Go By" was made as fallout from a wager
Ferry lost to Robin Trower, who occasionally produces for Bryan when
he laspes into fits of "perfectionistic excesses."

Bryan's a major talent but he's no Marlene Dietrich. Still, I bought
this CD for the "Falling in Love Again" cut. Most tracks on this CD
are worth owning and it's recorded in HCDC which makes a boombox sound
like a concert hall. I've been on the fence about reselling this CD,
but every time I relisten, it's back on the shelf again. This was a
brave and suprising turn from his Roxy Music roots and I hope Bry gets
a bump in sales from your question, sbarros.

Slave to Love, ;-)
