Question ID: 33977
I am looking for an article published in N.Y. American, October 1912
by Dr. Paul Schliemann. The article name is "How I Found the Lost
Atlantis-the Source of All Civilization." I have a copy of the
article from Microfilm Archives, University of Texas, but it is too
small to make out any words, even with a microscope. Dr. Paul
Schliemann is, also, the same person that found the lost city of Troy.
Can you find a readable copy of my article?

Dear christinajanel:

When you say with a microscope, do you mean you tried to do it with
only the microfilm? Have you tried using your microfilm with a
microfiche reader?

Best Regards,
blader-ga

Dear blader,

I don't actually have the microfilm. Sorry for the confusion, I can
see how you could get that from my question. What I really meant was
that I have a copy of the article from a book at school that had a
copy in it. The Microfilm Archives is where the book from school got
its copy, the original source of the copying. By mentioning "too
small...even for a microscope" i meant that the writing is so small
that its just a bunch of squiggle lines, and magnified its just bigger
squiggle lines. The only information big enough to read is where the
author got his copy from, the article name, and who wrote it. Again,
very sorry for the mix up.

Thanks for trying to help,
christinajanel

A minor clarification, christinajanel:

Troy was located by Heinrich Schliemann, a businessman and
enthusiastic amateur. He had no academic qualifications as an
archaeologist.

Paul claimed to be Heinrich's grandson.

Perhaps the university library could print and mail you a legible copy?

Dear Christinajanel,

I understand from your account that you are looking for a copy of the
nature of a photocopy of the article of Dr. Paul Schliemann.

A major portion of the above has been published in a journal and for
you to possess the same, you may have to pay a price which may be
slightly higher than your price for your query. This is what I
understood from a reply to my E-Mail to Mr. Dean Clarke concerning
your query.

I hope to know the exact means of procurement from Mr. Clarke shortly
and I will submit the same for you to procure the article.

Please visit the following web page.

Telephone your local public library and request a photocopy of the
article giving the citation. Most libraries are able to get
photocopies free, but sometimes they are charged a fee by the
supplying library.

Christina,

Have the University of Texas main librarian contact the University of
California main librarian. UC Berkeley has a huge collection of
newpaper articles. The librarians should be able to interact and find
what you need.
