I would like to find a detailed bicycling itinerary (timing and number
of kilometers) from the center of Paris to Joinville-le-Pont
(outskirts of Paris)along the Marne river. My target would be to have
lunch at a restaurant called "Chez Gégéne" in Joinville-le-Pont before
heading back to Paris.

Are timing details and distances essential?

Would you be happy with a link to detailed narrative instructions for
a day's cycle from Paris to Joinville-le-Point along the Marne river
with an option to form a loop by returning on a faster but less scenic
route?

Indeed, overall timing and distance notions would be necessary for me
to gauge whether my party of bikers would be able to do make it given
their fitness and experience level.

I don't need step by step distance and timing info, just overall
should be fine (although a day seems a bit long...). Thanks

And yes, your detailed narrative seems quite useful. However, a map of
the journey -if available- would be the absolute best. Thanks again.

This is a description of a cycle route which goes beyond your
destination. It gives some distances, plus detailed descriptions. As
it is not exactly what you requested, I am posting it as a comment
only http://www.mayq.com/Cycling_out_of_paris/Route_2_east/Route_2_east.htm

The link that tehuti-ga posted is the best that I've found, too.

Clearly your journey is a "few hours" rather than a "day trip", but I
can't find anything more specific than that on the web or at my local
library.

Chez Gégéne sounds like a great place:
