Howdy gyrocopter-ga,

You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to read the original of the
following. If you do not have it, you can download it from Adobe.

The Florida Institute of Technology web site outlines the solution to this
problem very nicely. I have edited it slightly for legibility below.
http://my.fit.edu/~skoksal/dec/decsol.pdf

Let the four numbers be w, x, y, and z
Let w be equal to or less than x
Let x be equal to or less than y
Let y be equal to or less than z

w + x + y = 180
w + x + z = 197
w + y + z = 208
x + y + z = 222

Adding side by side, we have:

3(w + x + y + z) = 807

Divide both sides by 3 and you get:

w + x + y + z = 269

Since w + x + y + z = 269 and w + x + y = 180

We have z = 269 ? 180 = 89 (the largest number of the four numbers)

If you need need any clarification, feel free to ask.
