I want to know if someone has used the Basic Stamp 2, in particular the BS2-IC to send and receive SMS messages via a GSM phone/module? I also want to know if this has been used to receive and interpret GPS information in NMEA format? | |

As per GPS data being collected by a BS2, there is an oldish (1996!!!)
posting in the LOSA (list of stamp application).
You can find it at:
http://www.hth.com/filelibrary/txtfiles/losa.txt
The entry is:
=====================================================================
Title : Near Space Capsule [# 053]
=====================================================================
Date : 961122
Author: Lloyd Verhage
E-mail: verhage@humec.ksu.edu
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Stamp model : BS2-IC Module
Code available: YES
Filename : asimovv2.bs2
URL : N/A
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Description :
Kansas NSP used a BS2 to control a near space capsule. The
capsule
is a styrofoam box with amateur radio gear to provide telemetry.
The
BS2 operated the radio, collected physical data, operated
cameras,
and collected data from a GPS receiver. Data was telemetered to
ground stations via packet radio. Maximum altitude reached was
90,200 feet.
Information and code will be given by author upon request.
Another posting of marginal interest to your search is
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/basicstamps/message/21848
where a person is commenting use of the BS2SX (NOT BS2IC!!) with a
GSM.
Hope this helps!
