Hello All!

A legal sort of question. Suppose someone wants to collect gloves and
hats around the winter months and drop them off at a local homeless
shelter. Can this activity be done on an independent basis? In other
words would one have to operate through a non-profit organization or
be a non-profit organization to legally do this? This would be
accomplished by providing many drop off locations where people could
drop the items in a box. Possible locations for the boxes would be
churches, schools, libraries, and local grocery stores. Specifically
United States, Illinois
