Dear wildmanian-ga,

I regret to say that you appear to be dealing with a company which is
offering investment services without being registered and licensed to
do so. There are numerous warnings on financial regulator sites
warning investors of this operation. The company is based in Spain and
I suspect their operation has been closed down. I have placed below,
links to examples of the various warnings and the contact details for
the Spanish Financial Regulator should you wish to contact them.

UK Financial Services Authority warning.
"FSA list of unauthorised firms as at 9 February 2004.
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has published an updated list
of unauthorised firms that are or have been targeting UK investors."

I think your first port of call is the Spanish financial regulator.
They should be able to advise you if they have undertaken an
investigation of the company, and as to whether it is a criminal
investigation. Also, you may consider discussing the situation with a
lawyer, either based in your country or Spain.

Your money I understand is not held by libertyfirst instead it is
protected by the clearing house. When you sent your money it would
have been sent to and held by International Investments Clearing S,A.
in the Bahamas. I think the region in the Bahamas is Nassau. I suggest
you phone them. You can contact them through International directory
services. You will need to quote your account number. If you have any
queries please advise.

Hi,

I'm in the same situation as the person who asked the question.
However, I can't get hold of International Investments Clearing in the
Bahamas. On the number I call, I just get someone who doesn't speak
English. I'm worried that the clearing house has also disappeared.

Has anyone had success getting money back through IIC? What contact details?

Thanks.

From some research it shows that the company has moved and as posted
above your funds are held with the clearing house. Anyone that needs
to contact Liberty First can contact this number I have found for them
34-666-814752. The company is still functioning and has just relocated
if anyone still can not contact them you can reach the clearing house
from the above numbers they are working telephone numbers. From some
research, the firm does not do any business in the U.K. or in
Australia since their laws changed. The black list is for firms that
are not licensed to do business within their country; further research
shows that the company has abided by all respective laws.
