Hi turandot,

OE 6 does not come with its own spell checker and it needs to borrow
it from another program. If you have MS Word, Works, or Office
installed (not Works 7), you should be able to enable the spell check
option. Make sure that when you re-installed MS Word, you included the
accessories for proofing (spell and grammar checkers). After you've
confirmed that you installed your proofing software, you should be
able to enable it (although it's usually enabled by default).

Select Tools / Options / Spelling and enable it.

Another option is to download this little spell checker:

Spell Checker for OE:
"The purpose of this program, is to supply for free the ability to use
Spelling in OE, without the need to purchase other software, such as
MS Word,Works, or Office."

I hope that helps. If you have any questions, or if this didn't solve
your problem, please post a clarification request before
closing/rating my answer.

Thank you,
hummer

caro hummer

As you have so accurately analyzed "I no longer have WORD as a part of
my Windows assembly" which I am now sure was the reason "NO SPELL
CHECK" - no one else told me that!

I downloaded "MAJORGEEKS" and all is fine now, thank you.

Being a first time user I was not familiar with the procedures and
failed to "TIP" Hummer. Next time, will do to make up. TURANDOT

Welcome to GA, turandot (yes, I assumed you meant the opera and not
"tur and ot" - actually, I'm an Aida fan, the first opera I ever saw
at the Met in New York with Leontyne Price). I'm glad to hear the
Geeks came through for you - and thank you for the virtual tip, I
appreciate it. Take care, hummer
