Do you know a popular song out now (or in the last few months) that
have lyrics like:

"like the guy from insync....."
"like the guy from the fresh prince..." 

it's a cute song, but for the life of me, i forget how it goes and
forget most of the lyrics, except for things like above (they aren't
exact, but that's they type of lyrics that are in the song).

If you can think of this, you are a miracle worker.  Thanks.

Anyway, I'm basically attempting to read your mind here, so I could be
way off the mark.  Nonetheless, this song popped into my head when I
read your description. Could you be looking for "Hey Leonardo (She
Likes Me For Me)" by Blessid Union of Souls?  It was released in 1999,
which is awhile ago, I know, but it's a bouncy song and I suppose you
could've heard it recently for the first time... I have reprinted some
of the lyrics here to see if they help.  The choruses have the form
"like ____ (name of famous person)" that you might be thinking of... I
wish I could just hum it for you. ;)
