I want to set up an internet communication link with someone and I want it
to remain anonymous and untraceable. It could be an e-mail address, a
web-site or a bulletin board. I can send this person a letter to let
them know how to use it. I represent a "dissident" faction at my
place of work (nothing bad, we just complain about management's new
policies). We have been communicating with employees and now the
president of our company wants to talk with us, but he does not know
who we are and I want to keep it that way.
Is there a safe way to set up a line of commication?

I appreciate all of the suggestions. I am concerned with the IP being
traced (after all, the president has an entire IT staff at his
disposal). The "6url.com" idea is great for receiving, but not for
sending. I was hoping for something else, but maybe it is not
possible.

I'm not 100% sure how flexible you and/or your company can be, but
here's one solution.

Arrange for a computer, not connected to your network, to be kitted
with a dial up modem.

Create one hotmail account under some fictional name e.g.
anonymousworkers123@hotmail.com.

Inform your colleagues that they can send anonymous emails from that
address to your president.

All replies will come back to the same mail account .... but nobody
will know who sent what.

It's primative. But should achieve what you asked for.

Look at http://www.6url.com, they offer "Public Personal eMail", the
account is anonymous, as all accounts are public and automatically
created (No password and No Signups), for example your account
rileybirder@6url.com would automatically be created, when the mail
reaches their server, you could always go the web and see if there is
a reply :)

although al lthat CAN be traced via an IP, as well as this solution

plug a laptop into an open DATA port in your company, hopfully it is
all set for DHCP. It will grap an IP and you may be on the network

Then, assuming you know what the SMTP mail server is of your company,
fire up outlook express and send an email from the president to the
president - oh how much fun is that.

You may try using a proxy server. Search google for the tutorials and
lists of the proxy severs. After you have set up a server, try using
the Telnet method to send an email described in my tutorial at
http://www.timurkz.buildtolearn.net/how-to-send-anonymous-email.php
This way you don't even need to specify your email adress, so the only
information availble would be the IP, which would be replaced by the
Proxy you will use.
