All i've found so far, will post if I find more: "Temple life and religious ceremony was not for free-spirited Fugai Ekun (1568-1655); he spent most of his days on the road or living in caves where he obtained provisions in exchange for his paintings. Despite his vagabond life, or perhaps because of it, Fugai was a remarkably polished artist. Firmly constructed and finely textured, the brushstrokes of Fugai's Daruma (Figure A) are extremely clear and luminous." http://www.artzbox.com/zen/article_appreciatingzenart.htm Article ------- Addiss, Stephen.
