The question I am going to ask quite long but actually it's not mach to search i just want to make sure that you can pick up every thing i want. I am to write a research paper also I have to discuss about restructuring of old ways to stay in business to servive in the currrnt global uncerttainties of aviation operations. Also I have to discuss for the implementation of a set of operational amd management policies for the introduction, and continued operation of "new" domestic or regional(Australia) airline operation, with details of its intended role, or market and competitive advantages. The choice, market and style of the operation is your decitions ,whether it is a new undertaking , or perhaps a takover of another business, or any other business model(explained)that is pertinent to your ideas. Whilst the issue of actual costs will remain outside of realm of this discussion, basic cost considerations should br included. the main emphasis should be on ensurind the continued operation of the new business, in the current climate of aviation business in the Australia, or regional context I need it ASAP thak you |

I can't be specific to airlines or Austraila, but moderation is the key to success in most businesses. You need to resist the temptatation to spend big money on terrorism prevention, or other items not being supplied by the competition. Avoid fancy offices and other fluff. I suggest you have few upper management people and few middle management people and under pay both groups. You will be pleasently surprised how often low level employees make workable decisions in the absence of someone to micromanage. Replace the lower level people with different low pay persons until you have a staff that rarely makes major blunders. Avoid perfectionism. If it works with rare bad side effects, don't try to perfect the proceedure. Consistency is the enemy of inovation. Typically you can tell employees, the bottom line is what counts, so do it your way, if you are willing to bet your employment on a horriable side effect you did not anticipate, alternately find out what usual proceedures are. Be reasonably forgiving of error due to inovating otherwise you will trail the industry in finding better ways. Many of your employees will educate themselves, so avoid instructing them except in critical areas. Neil |

Well, if you are going to keep it a domestic/regional airline, then it might help to market it as 'low cost' airline. Avoid any food-in-the air. have real good guys - few though - who would really understand the 'load factor' and suggest the most profitable schedule - emphasising on the board-off points. invest your money in a good software system which will help these guys come up with such schedules. go for Electronic ticketing from day one - its big money saver with lot of other benefits. have codeshare agreements in such a way that it should *really* translate into profit for ur airline - that would involve a lot of data analysis. you will have to choose a good Airline applications system where you can host your airline - that is the system will provide all the resrvations, fares, pricing, departure control etc support. in all probability, you will be hosting on some already established system such as Amadeus,Sabre or Galileo. This hosting of your operations costs you money. If you are low-cost airline, you will not be using all the facilities that are offered by such an system *BUT* they charge you - most of the times - all the same whether or not you use all the facilities. Therefore, may be you can go for a system which is good enough and doesn;t charge you for what you don;t use. SHARES is a system (run by EDS where one of the users is Continental) where you can do this. I have seen it working, and can say that it's pretty good. If you choose an appropriate software system, you might end up saving a few millions a year - with guarenteed good performance. - Kik. |
