I'm looking for news stories that give examples of the dangers of
letting conference delegates in with Wi-Fi-capable notebooks or PDAs.
For instance, how a "mob" forms at an AGM when audience members are in
a chat room listening to presentations... confidential pics being
leaked out and posted online immediately... etc.

Check out how some people use Wi-Fi in the courtroom on both sides of

Confidential information could be leaked out and posted immediately.

There is also the danger of some people hacking other people's laptops.
Check out how professional "black-hatters" hack each other's laptops
at Defcon - THE hacker convention.  This is as about as extreme as
hacking gets in conferences:
