Dear golfer67-ga;

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting question.

You were right about the relationship between Allied Packers and Sara Lee:

?Allied Packers was incorporated in Delaware on June 6, 1919. the
company was the result of a merger of Batchelder and Snyder Company,
Boston, MA, the largest meat distributing company in New England; W.
S. Forbes and Company, Richmond, VA; C. Klinck Packing Company,
Buffalo, NY; Macon Packing Company, Macon, GA; Parker Webb and
Company, Detroit, MI; F. Schenk and Sons Company, Wheeling, WV; Chas.
Wolff Packing Company, Topeka, KS; and the Matthews-Blackwell, Ltd.,
the largest packers in Canada, operating plants in Branford, Hull,
Montreal, Peterboro and Toronto.

The company was acquired by Hygrade Food Products in 1929. Hygrade
Food Products was eventually acquired by Sara Lee in 1989.?

Apparently, beyond collector?s value, the stock certificate you have
is of no investment value in terms of stock or shares the certificate
once represented. Those interested in ?scripophily? (the hobby of
collecting stock and bond certificates for their ornate beauty, rarity
or just for fun) can easily obtain the fairly abundant Allied Packers
certificates as collector?s items. Because they are being sold and
traded so freely on this hobbyist market it only stands to reason that
they are only of value to collectors rather than investors, which
makes them, for all intents and purposes worthless to their face
values.

The good news though is that you have a beautiful document on your
hands and on the current collector?s market, your certificate (if in
excellent condition) could theoretically fetch about US$150 from an
eager collector. Admittedly that isn?t much compared to what you had
probably hoped, but I think you will agree in the long run that it?s
better than nothing.

I hope you find that my research exceeds your expectations. If you
have any questions about my research please post a clarification
request prior to rating the answer. Otherwise I welcome your rating
and your final comments and I look forward to working with you again
in the near future. Thank you for bringing your question to us.
