Hi,

I'm looking for somewhere to buy and/or download the sound track of
this band. I think "12 degres 5" (french spelling has an accented
second 'e') was both the
name of the band and the name of the album.
I don't care whether I get a music file, a CD or an old vinyl record.
They played in Paris in the 80s, then I don't know what they did...
I wish I had bought their album at the time...

mariane,

In what country are you located?

Do you have a limit on what you are willing to spend for the item plus
shipping costs?

Thanks,

aceresearcher

Thank you for your interest.

I am french, I live near Paris.
As for shipping costs, it shouldn't be that expensive anyway...
So, no, I don't mind if it has to come from US, Australia or the north pole :-).

Mariane,

I have e-mail requests out to some sources to verify that they still
have the items available. I will let you know the full details, once I
receive their responses.

Hello again, Mary!

I have good news for you -- there are copies of both 12º5 LPs
available, their self-titled "12º5", and their LP "Entre-temps". The
even better news is that some of these copies are in France, which
will save you on shipping charges.

Before I start, let me tell you that if you are serious about buying
one or more of these LPs, you need to do so immediately; on occasion,
when a Researcher Answers a Question about a scarce item, someone else
has already snapped it up before the Customer gets a chance.

Available on CDandLP.com:

4 items:
http://www.cdandlp.com/liste/?srt=1&lng=2&what=artiste&tete=douze&search=GO%21

Note that the first item on this list is only a 7-inch "single", with
2 songs on it, and that the fourth item is an unrelated soundtrack
from a movie.

Items 2 (?30.40) and 5 (?24.40) are the LP "Entre-temps", and item 3
is the same album on Cassette Tape (?18.00). They are all being sold
by the same person, who assured me in an e-mail that he still has the
LP "Entre-temps" available for sale.

In addition, this site also shows that the 12º5 self-titled LP is
available for sale by a different person (?18.00) (although I have not
confirmed that for certain):
http://www.cdandlp.com/liste/?srt=1&lng=2&what=artiste&tete=12°5+&search=GO!

Both of these sellers are located in France. You can purchase one or
more of these items by clicking on the individual item and then
clicking on "ADD TO SHOPPING CART".

On site GEMM.com:

Seller "PunkyStuff", located in Portland, Oregon, USA, has both LPs
available for sale (they confirmed this with me via e-mail), one copy
of the 12º5 self-titled LP for $35.20US, and two copies of
"Entre-temps" for $22.00US and $29.70US. To get more information about
any of these items, click the "Info..." hyperlink at the far right of
the item; to purchase one of them, click the "BUY" link at the right
(this will IMMEDIATELY put the item into your shopping cart. The
seller has informed me that shipping to France with be $12.00US.
http://gemm.com/q.cgi?seller=punkystuff&rb=moremusic

This site also shows the two LPs available by seller "FRANCEREC".
However, I believe that these are transfers from CDandLP.com's
database, so I would try them as the last resort.

Search Strategy

Unfortunately, the Google Search ignores special characters and
symbols, so searching for "12º5" brings up millions of irrelevant
pages. However, the following search string provided better results:

Douze Degres Cinq
://www.google.com/search?q=Douze+Degre+Cinq

THAT search found the CDandLP site. It took the use of the LP title,
and a little more finagling, to find the GEMM site:

12.5" "entre temps" title price lp artist OR artiste
://www.google.com/search?&q=%2212%2e5%22+%22entre+temps%22+title+price+lp+artist+OR+artiste

I hope that my Answer has provided you with exactly the information
you were seeking, and that you are able to obtain the music that you
remember so fondly.

Best Wishes,

ace

Oops!

I see that a couple of things did not get pasted properly.

The second CDandLP.com link, for the ?18.00 LP, should be:
http://www.cdandlp.com/liste/?srt=1&lng=2&what=artiste&tete=12%B05+

The Search Strategy should be:

Douze Degre Cinq
://www.google.com/search?q=Douze+Degre+Cinq

"12.5" "entre temps" title price lp artist OR artiste
://www.google.com/search?&q=%2212%2e5%22+%22entre+temps%22+title+price+lp+artist+OR+artiste

Hi,

I have a problem with cdandlp.com: the web registration form does
not accept french zip codes! (At least I think this is the reason
why I can't register, I have had that problem before with US web
sites.

Please, do you know a way round this problem? (French zip codes are
strings of 5 digits, no letters)

Thank you very much.

Mary,

I was able to register without a problem using the address of l'Hotel
du Panthéon in Paris, in the format

Title: ? MR º Mme-Miss
Name: Lastname Firstame: Firstname
Address: 99, Place du Panthéon
Zip Code: 99999 City: Paris
State: (leave this empty) Country: France
Phone number: 99 99 99 99 Fax: (empty)

Your user id: FLastname Your email address: user@domain.com
Your password: flnames Password confirmation: flnames

Are you sure that your zip code is the problem? Can you post the
entire contents of the error message you are receiving here?

Sometimes, incorrect programming will produce a misleading or
erroneous error message, one that specifies something different from
what's actually causing the problem. So even if you got an error
message that your zip is wrong, it may be something else that the
site's registration process is rejecting.

CDandLP.com have made every single field on their registration form
***required***, with the exception of fax number and favorite type of
music. Did you leave any of the other fields (besides "State" and "Fax
number") blank? If so, try the process again, being sure to fill in
all of the fields. (You can use a fake birth year if you wish; I
always do this for websites that are too nosy.)

Note that the username you select **must** be one that someone else
hasn't already taken, or the registration will be rejected; try
registering using different usernames until you find one that works.

Note also that the contents of "Your password" and "Password
confirmation" must be identical, or the registration will be rejected.

If you are still unable to register, try contact the company using
their online form at
http://www.cdandlp.com/aide/index.cfm?lng=2&rub=8&contact=ok

They should be able to help you get registered, and place your order.

If all of this fails, please post a Clarification here, and I'll do my
best to get this worked out for you.

Good Luck!

Hi,

Well, I tried your suggested phone number and postcode ;-) and that
went through... The message I was getting was just "UNCOMPLETE FORM
check errors please"... Now I just hope their system took into account
the post code I put
down for "shipping address", because otherwise the parcel will take ages...
(french post office workers are usually quite good at locating people
whose addresses had mistakes in them, like a "99999" post code, but it
takes them a while to find you.

Thank you again very much

Oh, I meant only to try filling out the form completely and entering
your postal code in a 5-digit format like "99999".

Not to worry, however. I think we can still get you fixed up.

First, you need to contact the seller of the item ASAP.

It looks as though you purchased the 12º5 self-titled LP for (?18.00)
from seller Neil93. If that is the case, you can contact him using the
following form, and let him know your correct address:
http://www.cdandlp.com/liste/question/?&n_ref=6401015&lng=2

I recommend that the first line of your message is "URGENT!"

If this is not the correct item (and seller), let me know which of the
items I listed is the right one.

Now, go back to CDandLP.com and log in with your username and
password. On the screen that appears, on the left-hand side under
"Profile", click "Update your profile". This will bring you to a
screen form containing your address and phone number. Try changing
your zip code and phone number to the correct values, then click
"Update my profile". If that doesn't work, then try correcting each of
them one at a time, to determine which (or both) field(s) is causing
the error. You should then contact them and let them know that their
system is rejecting valid values for those fields, using their Contact
form:
http://www.cdandlp.com/aide/index.cfm?lng=2&rub=8&contact=ok

Let me know if these things work for you.

Hi,

I received a confirmation email and followed the link which they
provided for tracking my order. The shipping address is correct. It is
only on the registering form that I wrote 99999 as a post code, and 99
99 99 99 as my phone number.
Maybe the problem was with my phone number, though I tried two ways
for the international code for France: "0033" and (+33).

I don't care about the phone number being wrong, as I would rather not
receive commercial phone calls maybe this is just as well :-).

As soon as I receive this record I'll post here to say so.

Thank you,

Mary

Mary,

I believe that you are right about the phone number. Because
CDandLP.com is based in France, during my test registration, I entered
the phone number as 99 99 99 99, rather than as +33(0)1 99 99 99 99.

However, I totally agree with you about the phone calls -- I almost
always use a faux phone number for websites, since I can usually log
in to "My Account" or "My Order Status", and they have my e-mail
address if they need to contact me. I also have a couple of
"throwaway" e-mail addresses (they can be abandoned if they become
overwhelmed with spam) that I use for Internet shopping and website
registrations, rather than using the e-mail address which I've given
to family and friends.

I am *so* delighted that you are pleased with the level of service I
provided to you, and I am looking forward to hearing that you have
your LP and are happily enjoying this music once again.

Best wishes!
