Our daughter is a junior in high school in metropolitan Atlanta
interested in pursuing a career related to ballet, theatre, and/or
costume design. She dances ballet in a respected dance theatre and
wants to continue dancing in
college at a performance level for the challenge and fun of it. She
does not aspire to be a professional ballet dancer, but seems to be
interested in a career aligned with dance/theatre, possibly combining
her interests in art and history as a costume designer. She is also
interested in english. She has a 3.8 high school GPA and her first SAT
scores were 750 verbal and 530 math (1280 total). She's retaking the
SAT to improve her math score.

We are trying to identify reputable liberal arts colleges and
universities in the eastern U.S. with dance scholarships, preferably
that include ballet, but not necessarily the top "dance schools". Our
search so far has identified schools such as Wake Forest, Bucknell,
and University of Richmond, which she views favorably. She is
interested in either private schools that would be considered more to
most selective in terms of academic requirements, or reputable public
universities having a large proportion of students that live on campus
(e.g. William and Mary). For example, for a private school, median
SAT needs to be around 1200 or greater. Can you identify a list of 10
to 20 colleges and universities that fit this description in the
eastern U.S.? Please include private and public universities in your
list. If there aren't this many with dance scholarships, then can you
identify 10 to 20 colleges and universities in eastern U.S. that have
reputable dance majors or minors offering performance-level ballet
opportunities, in addition to the schools already identified above?

Thanks!
Steve
