The term "Dehu Dogs" is mentioned in family memorabilia in reference to
a member of the family who was an RAF pilot in WW2. At the time (late
1943) he was based in Poona, India. It is said that a group of the men
called themselves the "Dehu Dogs". I expect this was an informal name.
I have learned that Dehu is the name of a small place near Poona where
there is a shrine to the god Dehu. In one story this god was known for
calming a wild dog. Despite my best efforts I have not been able to
fill in any other details. Can anyone help?
