What company built the 1920s-vintage US Navy Ship USS Los Angeles, and what was its hull designation while being constructed? (The hull designation was the manufacturer's control number, not the ship's Navy registry number) |

Dear delaplla, The USS Los Angeles was built built in 1923-24 at the Zeppelin works in Friedrichshafen, Germany for the U.S. Navy. This is, because the Los Angeles was a Zeppelin type dirigible, not a vessel. The USS Los Angeles, delivered as a war-debt compensation, was originally planned to be a commerical airship, furbished to carry 20 passengers.
