I can find no evidence that the New York Times has returned Duranty's Pulitzer.

Would you be interested in information about why some people think the
Times SHOULD return Duranty's Pulitzer? I can also provide
information about why the Times says that it HASN'T returned the
prize.

I understand your question, but multiple sources indicate that the New
York Times has NOT returned Duranty's Pulizer.

Could you possibly mean: "Why DIDN'T ..."

Hello.

Numerous critics have said that the New York Times SHOULD return
Duranty's Pulitzer because Duranty's reporting in the 1930s covered up
details about a Ukrainian famine that killed more than 7 million
people. Critics charge that Duranty deliberately reported false
information and collaborated with the Soviet government.

Duranty's Deception; Walter Duranty won a Pulitzer Prize while
covering up the atrocities of Josef Stalin. Is the reluctance of the
New York Times to return the prize a result of the newspaper's own
failure to come to grips with its guilt? - Cover Story

In November 2003, the Pulitzer board decided not to revoke Duranty's
prize. The New York Times agreed with that decision and has NOT
returned the prize.

search strategy:
"duranty's pulitzer"
prize returned "walter duranty"

I hope this helps.
