Question ID: 342570
i have the following configuration:
Apache/1.3.27 (Win32)

i've unzipped the following file:
Apache_1.3.27-Mod_SSL_2.8.14-Openssl_0.9.7b-Win32.zip

and i've already generated a .key & .csr file and have submitted the
.csr file to verisign and received a .cer file.

how do i install the .cer file so that i can start accepting https connections?

i am aware of that tutorial (and several others) but it wasn't too
helpful. perhaps the best one i've found is at:

http://www.devx.com/opensource/Article/20085/0/page/2

however, this devx.com tutorial is for apache 2 and so i would prefer
a more definitive answer from someone who may have already installed a
cert with a configuration more near mine. thanks anyway.

good morning. it occurred to me that my clarification on friday
wasn't too helpful. in particular, the problem i had with that
tutorial was that even when i followed the instructions, the apache
server would not start due to the SSL instructions (SSLMutex, SSLLog,
etc) in the apache config file. it was behaving like the mod_ssl
module wasn't loaded even though i had added the line:

LoadModule ssl_module modules/mod_ssl.so

if you have an idea that can resolve that issue, i'll gladly double
the compensation for this question. thanks.

it seems the answer to my problem was in that tutorial after all. i
needed to also do "AddModule mod_ssl.c". feel free to give yourself
credit for that question.
