What Windows CE based machines (handhelds, pocket PCs etc.) can be
equipped with a still-image camera that can save images (B/W or color)
directly in BMP file format?
For example:  HP Jornada 560 has an optional camera that one can buy,
unfortunately, it saves only in JPEG file format

Converting JPEG to BMP afterwards is not acceptable because details
has already been lost through the initial JPEG compression.

are compatible with the PD-500C.

Thanks for the link to the P-D131.  Unfortunately, it is an error on
their website.  According to their tech support personnel, PD-500C
CANNOT save images in BMP file format.  Obviously they still have not
corrected their website.

I found another WinCE camera that might meet your BMP requirement.
According to this link
(http://www.lifeview.com.tw/english/flycam-cf_e.asp), the FlyCAM-CF
supports the BMP format.
