a cd drive G has appeared in Explorer but I have no such drive. I have
2 drives but it is showing I have 3. Why please. If I click on it it

Device Manager doesn't show it it. Only Explorer does.

Have you installed any new software recently? There are cd copying
utilities that create virtual cd-rom drives.

Thanks Scott. That answered my question beautifully. I now know what
is causing it and have found the culprit. Its sitting next to me, my
partner!!! He installed a virtual drive and forgot about it.
Many Many Thanks.
