Dear Dalal,

According to Dr. Foster's website, the waiting time for Dr. David
Michael Davies is the highest (334 days). The waiting time is the
prime criteria used for finding who is considered the best by the
patients.
http://www.drfoster.co.uk/home/compare_consultant.asp?body=7&condcode=116&specid=160&name=&pc=London&loc_type=town

His contact information is:
Address: Plastic Surgery Partners
 55 Harley Street
County: London
Postcode: W1G 8QR
Phone No. (1): 020 8735 6060
Email: enquiries@plasticsurgerypart.org.uk
Website: www.cosmeticsurgeryuk.com

More details about Dr. David Michael Davies and his clinic are available at:
http://www.cosmeticsurgeryuk.com/psp/welcome.htm

He is also a member of BAAPS.

He is closely followed by Dr. Patrick Lawrence Mallucci (316 days)
Address: 30 Devonshire Street
Town: London
Postcode: W1G 6PU
Phone No. (1): 020 7908 3700
Fax: 020 7908 3776
Email: mallucci@lpsa.co.uk

I extensively searched for a plastic surgeon, who is also an ENT
specialist. However, I found no one of that criteria in London.

Dr. Barry M Jones is also a good plastic surgeon. He was the past
President of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
His qualifications are: MS FRCS MB BS LRCP MRCS
His contact information is:
Address: 14A Upper Wimpole Street
County: London
Postcode: W1G 6LR
Phone No. (1): 020 7935 1938
Fax: 020 7935 6607
Email: bmj@barrymjones.co.uk
Website: www.barrymjones.co.uk

This is confirmed from:
http://194.205.122.66/webapp/baaps/servlet/BaapsDisplay?purpose=viewsurgeondetail&surgeonid=47

He has also been quoted by Guardian, one of the leading publications in UK.
http://observer.guardian.co.uk/bodyuncovered/story/0,13992,1067778,00.html

All the members of British Association of Aesthetic plastic surgeons,
located in UK, are listed at:
http://194.205.122.66/webapp/baaps/servlet/BaapsDisplay?purpose=regionsearch&region=london

Choosing a BAAPS member will ensure that you get the plastic surgeon
who is fully-trained, registered with GMC, N.H.S. consultant, Gp
liasion, Bupa recognised and has a reputable Clinic, as per:
http://www.baaps.org.uk/why.htm

"Which" has done a thorough study on cosmetic surgery in UK and has
published guidelines for going ahead with cosmetic surgery
http://sub.which.net/health/reports/oct2002he28t31/09steps.jsp
(requires registration)

Also, please refer to:
http://www.ivillage.co.uk/print/0,9688,187571,00.html

There were others who claimed that they have been rated as the best
cosmetic surgeon and plastic surgeon in London, but they aren't BAAPS
members, and are not listed.

Usually one prefers the surgeons those that have been recommended by
your GP and those whom you are referred to. However, choosing a BAAPS
member is essential.

Hope that helps!

Dear Dalal,

For Rhinoplasty, it is recommended that one goes in for a plastic
surgeon who is also specializing in ENT. However, one has to be very
careful in choosing and recommending a plastic surgeon. There are many
who claim that they are the best. Being a member of BAAPS and General
Medical Council is one of the main criterias before choosing any
plastic surgeon in UK. A BAAPS membership ensures that the Doctor is
adequately qualified, has a good clinic, is updated with various
developments and is an NHS consultant. Please visit:
http://www.baaps.org.uk/why.htm

American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery has no major
standing and following in United Kingdom. BAPS, BAAPS and GMC are the
certified resources to refer to.

Let me go through each part of your clarification request, one by one:
Dr. Michael Evan Sachs
Dr. Michael Evan Sachs is not a BAAPS member as per:
http://194.205.122.66/webapp/baaps/servlet/BaapsDisplay?purpose=regionsearch&region=london

He is also not listed at General Medical Council (GMC) as per:
http://www.gmcit-infra.org/rd/reg/regsearch.php?uid=&family_name=Sachs&first_name=&qual_year=&start=0

----
Dr. Peter Edward Michael Butler
Dr. Peter Edward Michael Butler has the longest waiting period but he
also not a BAAPS member as per:
http://194.205.122.66/webapp/baaps/servlet/BaapsDisplay?purpose=regionsearch&region=london

and hence he was omitted and not mentioned as the "best". However, he
is a member of GMC as a specialised plastic surgeon since 1999:
http://www.gmcit-infra.org/rd/reg/regindiv.php?redirect=1&uid=4265818&family_name=Butler&first_name=Peter

----
Dr. Kirwan
I had gone through Dr. Kirwan's website several times and read through
his claims and tried to authenticate them before submitting the
original answer. He is also not a BAAPS member. Also, GMC's website
does not list him as a specialized plastic surgeon.
http://www.gmcit-infra.org/rd/reg/regindiv.php?family_name=Kirwan&first_name=L&uid=1737093&redirect=1

GMC says: If no specialist details are displayed, the doctor is not on
the specialist register.

His license says:
Current Licence Grade: Any except as an honorary, substantive or
fixed term consultant in the NHS unless exempt from requirement to be
on the Specialist Register. Confirmation of a doctor's eligibility to
work in general practice must be obtained separately from the JCPTGP
or, in the case of an EEA doctor the GMC: Start Date: 03/02/1998

----
Dr. Goldberg
He is also not a BAAPS member. However, he is registered with GMC as per:
http://www.gmcit-infra.org/rd/reg/regindiv.php?redirect=1&uid=4600868&family_name=Goldberg&first_name=D

He has a specialist registration in plastic surgery from 10/05/1999.

Being a GMC member and listed as a specialised plastic surgeon is
ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL to ensure that your intersts are protected. A
BAAPS member is strongly recommended.

Hope that helps!
