Hello greeny883

Here are the numbers of British or UK tourists visiting each of the
four cities with links to sources of further data. As with any
research of this kind, there are one or two quirks. Barcelona gives
figures for UK and Irish tourists combined, and Australia sells a lot
of its statistical information, so the best free data for Sydney is
for the 12 months ending June 2002.

Barcelona
=========

454,000 UK and Irish tourists in 2003

UK and Irish tourists were 11.8% of total tourists in 2003

Search Strategy
---------------

At first I tried variations on searches like:
"British OR UK tourists" statistics OR numbers Sydney

After some frustration, I decided I would have more luck looking for
tourism offices and statistics bureaux so used searches like:

Barcelona tourism statistics

You will see that some countries offer up their data more freely than others!

I don't know if these contain the information you require, but a pointer
to the site should be useful, at least.

What is the International Passenger Survey?
The International Passenger Survey (IPS) is a survey of a random sample of
passengers entering and leaving the UK by air, sea or the Channel Tunnel.
Over a quarter of million face-to-face interviews are carried out each year
with passengers entering and leaving the UK through the main airports,
seaports and the Channel Tunnel.

Travel Trends presents the main annual results from the International
Passenger Survey (IPS), which collects information from passengers as they
enter or leave the UK by the principal air, sea and tunnel routes.
Travel Trends presents detailed analyses on visits overseas residents made
to the UK and on visits UK residents made abroad. It also presents
information on the long-term trends in travel to and from the UK, over a
twenty-year period, and also shorter term trends, over a five-year period.
