Hello again Shikibobo,

Here are the results of my research regarding Dallas's economy.

Dallas has a diversified economic base.

?Service industries, including trade, make up the city?s most
important economic sector, followed by manufacturing. Dallas remains
an important distribution, financial, and insurance center of the
Southwest. It is the site of a district Federal Reserve bank and the
headquarters of a number of federal regional offices and large
insurance and oil companies.?

?Among the area?s most important manufactures are technology-related
products, including computers, biomedical products, and electronics.
Its location in the north central part of the state and its dense
network of railroads and highways enable it to serve as the shipping
center for the agricultural and mineral products of the surrounding
region, including cotton, cereals, livestock, fruit, petroleum, and
natural gas.?

industries, the area is less susceptible to economic decline than 20
years ago."

What makes Dallas grow?

?A number of factors combine to boost the state's economy, and Dallas
in particular.?

?The pluses: a young labor force, strong international migration, low
land costs, less business regulation, a business-friendly environment
and, like Washington state, no income tax.?

Transportation Hub

?Because of its central location within the U.S. and Texas, it also is
a transportation hub. The Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad is
headquartered here, for example.?

?Aerospace is important here, much as in Seattle.?

?Lockheed Martin, which beat Boeing in the Joint Strike Fighter
competition, is developing the jet in Fort Worth. Vought Aircraft
Industries, a longtime Boeing supplier and a major partner on the 7E7,
is in nearby Grand Prairie.?

(..)

?Lockheed Martin's aeronautics division is headquartered in Fort
Worth, along with it combat aircraft programs. It is one of the larger
employers with about 16,500 employees.?

Energy

?Energy is a smaller piece of the economy here than it was in the
past. Its share has fallen much the way Boeing has become a smaller
piece of the Puget Sound-area economy.?

?In the 1980s, energy made up more than 20 percent of the state's
economy. Current estimates put that figure at more like 7 percent.?
