I need a list and summary of leading theories of the business cycle.
Beginning with Keynesian and Real Business Cycle theories, I need to
know of any other leading theories that differ from these two
substantially (i.e. not merely an extension or similar version of
these). I am also interested in theories of unemployment, and how
they fit into the theories of the business cycle. Please include
references to major research on these theories. Also, I would like to
know of empirical research that has tested the validity of these
theories. Please request clarification if necessary.
Thanks!

MGW36 --

There are DOZENS of theories of the business cycle. Here, for
example, is one of the more obscure ones that has die-hard advocates:

Asking for a specific number and/or those cited most often is academic
research is most-likely to get you a good result here.

I am looking ofr leading theories. I realize there must be many
obscure theories and assertions based on trends in the data. I am not
looking of a list of dozens of these, rather I need a them to be
firmly rooted in economic theory and cited in credible, academic
research. I hesitate to specify a number, because I dont really know
if there are many that differ substantially from the basic Keynesian
or Real theories.
