Even before reading Scriptor's comment, I was about to add a sarcastic
reply that it was bound to star either Bryan Brown or Sam Neill. I
really must cut down on the drole wit!

Dear Lapone3636,

I also haven't been able to find a recording of the series, and since
your question is about to expire, I'll fill you up with what I did
find. Maybe this information would help you get what you want (and you
could always post the question again, with the hope that another
Researcher - or myself - would be able to find a recording).

The series was produced in 1978, and starred, as mentioned above, Jon
English. It was popular - not only in Australia - and there are many
fans who would like to see it on DVD or VHS:

German fans page
http://www.wunschliste.de/links.pl?s=0908&nc=1&p=0 - The German fans
lament (in German), why the series is not available on DVD or VHS.

TV Shows on DVD
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/showinfo.cfm?showID=5383 - wher you could
vote the show to be transformed to DVD.

Nostaligia Central has more on the series:
http://www.nostalgiacentral.com/tv/drama/againstwind.htm

My advice to you is to try "tape traders" - people who recorded it on
video (privately, not officially) and willing to share it with you,
such as:
Google groups: alt.video.tape-trading
