Is Micrsoft Works 7.0 compatible with Microsoft Office 2000? I have 2000 on my computer but I am more comfortable using works. I just don't want it to mess up my Office files. |

It should be OK, Works files have a unique extension to them (.wks IIRC), my dad has both Works and Office on his PC, though not the most modern versions you mention. Don't take my word for it though, lol, wait for a Answerer :) wolvies, lol |

If Works doesn't contain Word, you're going to be stuck... Although Office 2K *MAY* be able to open Works documents, the reverse is almost definitely not true. In fact, Works is so proprietary that most people can't open the native formats of Works unless they have a copy. If you save as (from Works) Excel for spreadsheets, RTF for documents, DBF for database, (none of these are Works native formats), you'll have a greater ease of other people actually being able to open your Works docs. Just be aware that there are free programs (like www.openoffice.org) that do work very well saving and opening most Office 2K documents (Although, again, you'll need to change the default save-as type for seemless interoperability.) |
