Both Kennedy's Disease and testicular cancer are relatively uncommon
illnesses, and there has been little study of any connection between
the two (perhaps because there is so little opportunity for
observation of patients with both conditions).

There have been studies linking Kennedy's Disease and prostate cancer.
There is also some speculative information available about the
biological mechanisms underlying Kennedy's disease, and how those same
conditions might relate to various cancers, including testicular
cancer.

As far as I know, however, there are no definitive findings linking
the two conditions.

Would you like me to summarize the available studies on Kennedy's
Disease and cancers as an answer to your question?

If so, please bear in mind that -- as far as I can tell -- the
available research has not yet provided a definitive answer to your
original question.

Hello jeffery10~

Kennedy?s Disease *has* been linked to male infertility (For a good
study on this and other, related topics, see ?EPIDEMIOLOGY OF MALE
REPRODUCTIVE DISORDERS? by Aleksander Giwercman, MD, and Yvonne
Lundberg Giwercman, MD, at EndoText.com:
http://www.endotext.org/male/male12/male12.htm ), but men with
Kennedy?s Disease aren?t likely to develop testicular cancer. The
aforementioned paper also discusses testicular cancer, but shows no
link between the two diseases.

While a common symptom of Kennedy?s Disease is testicular atrophy (or
small, underdeveloped testicles, see ?Kennedy?s Disease? at EMedicine:
http://www.emedicine.com/neuro/topic421.htm and ?Kennedy Disease
Symptoms? ://www.google.com/search?q=cache:cs9KsNLALuwJ:www.monashinstitute.org/emplibrary/KDSymptoms.doc+%22Kennedy's+disease%22+testicular&hl=en&ie=UTF-8
), this does not in any way mean a man with Kennedy?s is likely to get
testicular cancer.

Kennedy?s Disease has a few things in common with prostate cancer,
because both conditions are caused by androgen receptor alterations.
The Androgen receptor (AR) is a member of the steroid hormone receptor
family; AR mediates the activity of androgens (testosterones). Defects
or abnormalities in AR have been liked to both Kennedy?s and to
prostate cancer; however, at this time, doctors believe that patients
with Kennedy?s Disease have a low risk of prostate cancer. One reason
for this is that the DNA tract must be shortened from Kennedy?s in
order to have prostate cancer. For some very basic information on the
connection between Kennedy?s and prostate cancer, you might wish to
check out ?Background,? at Kent:
http://www.cs.kent.edu/~oandriye/bio_background.html

Interestingly, studies being conducted may indicate that using a drug
Lupron used to treat prostate cancer may also help Kennedy?s patients.
