This is a question out of curiosity - we were tryign to figure this
out. If I have a PA driver's license, and I get a traffic ticket
(speeding or another moving violation), do I get "points" on my
driving record in Pennsylvania? More generally, do tickets in another
state (other than your home state where your license is) add tickets
to the violation "points" on your record?

I should emphasize the disclaimer at the bottom of this page, which

you should contact a lawyer.

I have found PENNDOT's answer to this question. However, I am
reluctant to say that it would be the same answer in all 50 states,
even ones that belong to the same interstate regime, since there could
be particular local variations.

Would an answer for Pennsylvania be sufficient? (If there is another
state that you are particularly interested in, perhaps I could find
the answer for that as well.)

Hello floundies,

Actually, it's 9/10 of an answer, because it relates to the 45 other
states (out of 50, of course) in the Driver License Compact (DLC).
PENNDOT's description of the DLC includes the following:

"Although reported to PENNDOT, minor traffic offenses such as
speeding, red light, stop sign, etc. will NOT appear on your driving
record. Points will not be assessed to your PA driving record when
convicted of a point related offense in a DLC member state."

"Fact Sheet - The Driver License Compact (DLC)" (Pub 7201 FS (6-02))
[towards the bottom of page 1]
Pennsylvania Driver and Vehicle Services

The list of DLC member states is on page 2 of this document. The
missing states are Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, Tennessee, and
Wisconsin. The PENNDOT site does not indicate what happens with
point-related offenses in those states. However, from browsing web
pages that mention this list of states, it appears (emphasize:
appears) that point-related offenses in non-DLC states would be even
less likely to have an interstate effect.

That's not right. Speeding tickets in other states do not affect a PA
driver's license. Points are accumulated for any citations within PA.
For the point system you can look here
http://www.dmv.state.pa.us/pdotforms/dl_forms/dl-71p.pdf or here
http://www.dot3.state.pa.us/pdotforms/dl_forms/dl-71p.pdf

Hope that helps.
