Hi pancam-ga,

Locating the text of the articles (as you apparently have done) is not
that hard. The Newcastle Herald is indexed by several databases or by
the Newcastle Herald for a fee, and you can find the pieces that way.
However, when it comes to locating the photographs themselves, my best
suggestion is to locate a library that carries back issues of the
Newcastle Herald and use the microfilm.

A researcher would need your location (city and state (or country)) to
locate a library near you.

Hi pancam,

Luciaphile has posted a message to the Researchers' Forum inviting
other researchers to complete the answer to your question.

You require access to articles that appeared in the Newcastle Herald
on 26 March 1998, 31 March 1998, 2 April 1998, 3 April 1998, 10 April
1998 and 11 November 1998.

These issues of the Newcastle Herald are held on microfilm at the
State Library of New South Wales, Macquarie Street (City).

   Phone: 9273 1414
   Email: library@sl.nsw.gov.au
   Web: http://www.sl.nsw.gov.au/
   Map: http://www.sl.nsw.gov.au/visit/location.cfm
   Opening Hours: http://www.sl.nsw.gov.au/visit/hours.cfm

Some State Library services require a State Library Reader's card. In
case you need this, you should bring with you one form of
identification such as a driver's licence or recent utility bill.

The online catalogue is here:

About WEBCAT ? State Library of New South Wales catalogue
http://www.sl.nsw.gov.au/webcat/about.cfm

The catalogue entry for the microfilm
http://library.sl.nsw.gov.au/search/Hnewcastle+herald/Hnewcastle+herald/1,7,7,E/frameset&FF=Hnewcastle+herald&6,6,
says "Status: Check SRL microfilm shelves L 7". A multi-year CD-ROM is
also available
http://library.sl.nsw.gov.au/search/Hnewcastle+herald/Hnewcastle+herald/1,7,7,E/frameset&FF=Hnewcastle+herald&1,1,
for which the status says "Book at Information Desk".

By using a microfilm reader/printer you will be able to make copies of
the pages that you need for 70 cents each (A4) or $2.20 each (A3).

If for any reason the State Library of NSW does not meet your needs,
the Newcastle Herald is also available on microfilm at the Fisher
Library, University of Sydney (Eastern Avenue, main campus,
Camperdown):

   Phone: 9351 2993
   Email: fishinf@library.usyd.edu.au
   Web: http://www.library.usyd.edu.au/libraries/fisher/
   Map: http://www.library.usyd.edu.au/libraries/fisher/fisherloc.html

The "Policies and Strategies" page
http://www.library.usyd.edu.au/about/policies/
states that the library "is open to staff and students of the
University of Sydney. Students from other universities and members of
the public are also welcome to visit the Library."

Here is the Fisher Library catalogue entry:
http://opac.library.usyd.edu.au/search/fnewcastle+herald/fnewcastle+herald/1,2,2,B/frameset&FF=fnewcastle+herald&1,1,

Please request clarification if this answer does not yet meet your
needs. I'm sorry that I could not find a source for you that is North
of the bridge!
