By simultaneous, do you mean edit one file, and have it effect all of them?
Is there anything unusual about this LAN?

Yes. We would like to be able to edit one file and have it affect all
the individual computers' HOST file. As far I know, there's nothing
unusual about our LAN.

1. How many computers do you have in your LAN?
2. Do you have administrative right for each one?
3. Are these computers in Domain or Workgroup?

Not quite instantaneous or simultaneous, but if I were asked to do
something like this, my first thought would be to create a login
script which would copy the new hosts file form a server every time a
user logs in. Alternately, you could have the workstations do it when
they boot.
