My dictionary gives definitions for municipality and related words sufficiently broad to include nearly all residentual property in Canada, so about 2% of the residential plots and acerage will have fresh water lake shore. Perhaps 200,000 separate residential properties including some that do not yet have houses and some that are for sale, and some whose ownership is uncertain. If you wish to exclude some of these from the count, only a rough estimate is possible for several reasons. ie the distinction between fresh water (and very slightly salty) lake and fresh water pond is hazzy. Do you wish to include Northwest Territories, the Yukon and Laborador in the count? Do you wish to exclude homes on property zoned for agricuture, even if they are in a municipality? Neil |
