Hi,

I'm trying to get an idea of how the Military buys new media (i.e.,
online) advertising for its branches (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force,
Coast Guard, others?).

- Is purchasing regional or centralized (I assume both, since I have
seen 'high production value' TV spots, and tiny ads in college
newspapers)?
- Is purchasing done by branch, or is there an organization that
purchases for multiple branches?
- Do they buy directly or through agency(s)? Who are the agency(s)?
- Who are the appropriate contact(s), if available?
- Not critical, but nice to have: Budget info and/or examples of
current ads online (beside their own sites, of course)

Again, my particular interest is new media (online) advertising,
although I have not yet seen very much online, compared to the tons of
print, TV, and radio campaigns. Thanks!

Army -

here is an interesting article I found with info about army marketing campaigns:

http://www.defenselink.mil/news/Jan2001/t01102001_t110army.html

heres a quote from that article that can give you a head start possibly:

"Additionally, we have Mr. Barry Lipsy, who is the chief marketing
officer for the Army's Business and Marketing Brand Group"
