I would like really personal, individual insidery opinions about the
best hotels in the Cayman Islands.

By "insidery," do you mean the views of people who have actually
stayed in these hotels, or do you mean people in hotel management who
might be willing to say things privately they wouldn't say in public?
Thanks!

I mean opinions of people who have stayed in good hotels there.

Hi,

It sounds like you may have had the same experience most travelers
have had before -- a hotel that isn't quite what it appears to be from
the brochures and other promotional material.

Fortunately, there are a number of Internet sites these days where
travelers share their experiences with hotels (and other travel
attractions). Here are some of the best ones that include reports on
Cayman Islands hotels:

Caribbean-On-Line
This online publication has a ton of reviews of hotels, reviews based
on personal visits. You can read reviews going back a few years.
http://www.caribbean-on-line.com/hotelreviews/cy/

TripAdvisor
Scroll down past the ads to see links to 37 user reviews of
destinations and hotels. More importantly for your purposes, look
down the left side of the page for links to hotels. Many of the pages
linked to have user reviews as well as links to professionally written
reviews.

Epinions.com
Reviews are mostly of destinations, but there are also comments on
individual hotels.

I Go U Go
This travel site includes numerous reviews written by real travelers.
Currently, it looks like most of the reviews for the Cayman Islands
are for budget hotels, however.

Fodors.com
This travel site has a fun-to-read Rants & Raves section for reader
reviews.

I knew of these sites (except for the first one) due to personal
experiences with travel planning. You can also find other hotel
reviews using the following Google search term: "cayman islands" hotel
reviews
://www.google.com/search?q=%22cayman+islands%22+hotel+reviews

Enjoy your travels!

I have very limited experience having only checked in to the Hyatt
Resorts - Grand Cayman which is located on Seven Mile Beach. Of
course, the Hyatt experience was wonderful - restaurants were first
class (though expensive), entertainment first class, rooms very
comfortable, cool and breezy, the pool and pool bar were very
memorable.

The only drawback, we thought, was that the Hyatt was across the
street from the ocean. Though the hotel had its own private beach, it
was a little bit of a hike.

Best snorkeling - definitely the north side of the cemetary, about 1-2
miles north of the Hyatt. Fantastic.
