When will the first season of the HBO TV series "Six Feet Under" be released on DVD? I'm looking for a specific date, and if it hasn't been officially announced yet, the likelihood that the date is correct. |

Hi David, I'm a huge "Six Feet Under" fan, so I wanted to know the answer to your question too! I scoured the 'net for information and rumors and I can't give you an exact date. Based on the answers in the HBO Store FAQ, it seems as if they don't have a firm date set for the DVD release yet. (You'll notice that they use that line for questions about The Sopranos and Sex and the City ) http://store.hbo.com/hbo_faq/b.HBOSIXFEET/s.CFVuBKtY I did find out enough to confidently say if anyone gives you a release date that's within the next two months, they're probably wrong. I went to Yahoo! Shopping's New/Future TV DVD Release section: http://shopping.yahoo.com/domain?d=v&cf=upcoming&date=20020422&genre=2055100023&ft=DVD and Six Feet Under is not listed on the schedule that runs through the week of May 20. Yahoo! Shopping does have an order page set up for the DVD version, though. You can find it here: http://shopping.yahoo.com/shop?d=v&id=1804906448&clink=dmvi-ks/six_feet_under Here's the official party line from HBO's site: "In general, information on new releases will be made available a few weeks prior to its release." I'd suggest checking in on the Yahoo! and HBO site every couple of weeks. The DVD may be available from another distributor or local retailer before it's available on HBO's site, so you may want to check the new release list on Yahoo! first before checking on HBO. P.S.: According to the Yahoo! new release calendar, the third season of Sex and the City will be available on DVD on May 21. http://shopping.yahoo.com/shop?d=v&id=1807865469&cf=product&clink=dmvi-upcoming&upc=026359923227 Hope this helps, Katwoman |

Since "Six Feet Under" is still in its second season, it's highly unlikely that the series will be released on DVD anytime soon. The best place to find your answer is on HBO's site: http://www.hbo.com/ According to their store FAQ, video and DVD releases will only be announced within a couple weeks before its release: "Q: How can I find out when a title will be released? A: Please visit our "Coming Soon" page where you will find detailed information about the release of a title from HBO Home Video. If you do not find what you are looking for, please check back in a couple of weeks. In general, information on new releases will be made available a few weeks prior to its release." the professional version of imdb looks like it would have the answer, but i thiknk a paid subscription is required http://pro.imdb.com/ it is targeted at answering these sorts of questions another approach might be to look at the censors sights - in the uk a dvd release requires a rating from the censors and the uk censors website lists which dvds are being considered for rating hope this gives you some more leads to go on |

ps the first series has just started playing in the uk (last week) on channel 4 and satellite and cable on channel E4 - another reason why they are likely to hold back release of the dvd as they may have had to agree to hold it back till at least the first airing of the series is complete here I saw the last episode (my first) while in the US last week and then flew home to see the first episode (after my brother insisted i watch it properly)! The papers here were flooded with advertising for its launch on 11th June 2002 I am not sure how many episodes there are but if my theory is correct then you should count that number of weeks from 11th June as a minimum ....! |
