I am looking for salary information for a very specific type of IT
position. It's generally known as Executive Desktop Support. In this
instance I am looking for salary information for individuals
supporting CEO's and VP's of Fortune 500 companies.

This type of job involves 24/7 support of Executive PC computer
issues. It also involves travel to Executives homes, conferences and
business locations. It includes timely coordination of resources or
any other action to help resolve any IT issues affecting a top
executive.

Important skills include:

1) Thorough knowledge of PC laptop and desktop hardware.
2) Excellent knowledge of Operating Systems (win 98, 2000, xp)
3) Complete knowledge of Microsoft software (Office, Project, Visio)
and other enterprise software such and Norton Antivirus, Mcafee.
4) Strong skills in the area of Networking, VPN, Wireless, etc..
5) Great skills in the area of PDA's and synchronizing with enterprise
Email systems.
6) Unparalleled customer service skills for dealing with high-pressure
situations and executives on very tight schedules and limited patience
for computer downtime.

I am looking for links or specific information on this particular type
of position. I have gone to the US department of wages and labor and
found the general information on IT positions but I need specific
information for salaries of IT professionals that interact directly
with the CEO and Executive VP's of fortune 500 companies.

According to www.salary.com a Senior Helpdesk Support person in for
example Georgia makes the following wages

Low percentile  38,403
Median percentile 43,910
High percentile 50,693

these are annual figures 

If you want to make your own searches , go to www.salary.com , select all IT , 
make a selection of the position and select create basic report to get
a free report
you can also specify a lot more variables but at that point you will
have to pay for the information

I think the best source for information _close_ to this is
probably SAGE (System Administrators Guild...they add the
E so it isn't SAG  :)

They publish an annual salary survey that contains a lot of
details.  It will cost you $40 to join.  I would have a hard
time justifying "fair use" to get actual data from it.  :)
